How do I choose curriculum and where can I get it?
Whether you are new to the area or brand new to homeschooling one of your biggest concerns may be choosing curriculum and, even more importantly, getting it without breaking your budget!
Before I go on, I want to encourage you to take a couple of weeks off, at least, just to do your research and find out what your teaching style may be, what your child's learning style may be, whether you want to hire a consultant or figure it all out on your own. Your child/ren won't get behind because you take a couple of weeks off. Homeschooling allows us to have a much more personal educational experience with our children. It's more important that you get started with a bit of information under your belt, find a local support group and not panic.
New To Homeschooling? There are so many things to consider when choosing to homeschool your child/ren. It can be a very emotional time because you may be upset with something that happened at school and make the decision rather suddenly. You may or may not have done any research on the subject before deciding to do so. Since homeschooling is becoming much more common many people make this decision based on a minimal amount of facts and assume that because it is so successful for so many other people that it will be easy. The problem here is that you are making this decision while you are on an emotional roller coaster and it is very easy to panic when you see all of the options available and aren't sure just where to turn for help.
How Can You Support This Site?Did you find something here to help you? There is a lot of information here already. Please click around in all of the areas to see what all is here. Besides finding out about homeschool groups in our area there are links to local activities and events. Don't forget to check out the classified ads section! Check back often to see if there is anything new or post your own items for sale. You can help make this site even better and more useful by adding more links and information about local activities and resources available for homeschoolers.

How to add your group, co-op or resource to this site.First, please only add local, physical groups to the Local Homeschool Groups Database. All other groups should be added to the Online Groups. Go to http://pensacolalifehomeschool.com/. You'll need to register (keeps spammers from adding stuff). You will probably have to check your email for a message from the website, click on the link to activate your registration and go the the site to log in. Click on ADD LOCAL GROUP GROUP, then click on ADD ENTRY. Put your information in and choose up to 5 categories to have your group in. This will help when someone searches for a specific kind of group. The more categories the better. Also be specific as you can but since most groups change from year to year or even month to month don't be too specific unless you absolutely want to limit your group to a specific age group or whatever. Please be sure to click on send! Your group won't show up right away because I will have to approve it first. Please click on READ MORE now!
